Meet Syabira, Great British Bake Off 2022 contestant and avid gamer
Here's everything you need to know about the Bake Off finalist Syabira.
After 10 weeks in the tent, The Great British Bake Off final is here.
This Tuesday (15th November), the final three contestants in the Great British Bake Off 2022 line-up will go head-to-head as they take on the last three challenges.
One of those bakers is Syabira, who has managed to bag Star Baker three times in a row during season 13.
She'll compete against Sandro and Abdul, after last week's show saw Janusz bow out of the competition.
"I was very sad to see Janusz leave. I lost my only tequila buddy in the tent. We all went for dinner that night trying not to discuss about the leaving. He was upset, but he put on a very brave face and gave me a pep talk for the final," Syabira said.
While we won't find out who this year's winner is until the finale airs, Syabira is a firm-favourite to take home the coveted glass cake stand.
In an exclusive RadioTimes.com poll, 78 per cent of fans predicted that she'll win this year's show, and in his latest column, reigning Bake Off champ Giuseppe Dell'Anno backed her, saying: "I think that they all have what it takes to be a winner.
"However, looking back, Syabira has probably been the best performing of the three overall, and I hope that the final result will give her credit for that. But, in the tent, everybody starts from scratch every week, so literally anything can happen!"
And she's feeling very confident ahead of the final, saying: "Regardless of the outcome, I couldn’t wait to finish the showstopper to see the other bakers' cakes, my partner (Bradley), his family and my friends."
So, could Syabira be this year's Bake Off champ?
Here's everything you need to know about her ahead of tonight's final.
Who is Syabira?
Age: 32
From: London
Job: Cardiovascular Research Associate
Syabira was born in Malaysia and is one of seven children. She moved to the UK in 2013 to study for her PhD and is now a Cardiovascular Research Associate in London.
Syabira lives with her boyfriend Bradley and loves gaming, often playing an online World-War-II simulation game which she said has taught her about leadership in the real world.
Syabira only started baking in 2017 and her bakes often give Malaysian flavour twists to British classics, such as chicken rendang Cornish pasties. She says she is "quick to learn and a resilient baker" and that her favourite cake is a red velvet cake, which is the first bake she ever made.
